Breathing Exercise

A menopausal meditation

My doctor said that meditation is good during perimenopause and I’ve been finding it really helpful. I have a great mediation app, but sometimes, I like to make up my own. Below is a super quick breathing exercise.

All kidding aside, developing a meditation practice has been a sanity saver during perimenopause. This mother of all transitions happens at a busy time in life. Some days, everything seems to converge into a sick sandwich-generation mashup: lack of time, lack of sleep, my hormones, my teenager’s hormones, aging parents, family drama. Meditation offers a little dose of BEING instead of DOING, and helps me practice noticing feelings or behaviors without getting too caught up in them.
My favorite resources: Headspace (light and easy) and Tara Brach (deep and insightful)
